A Message from Lisa about some special initiatives & programming for and about our Survivors & Thrivers

As the summer sun fills our days with warmth and possibility, the Pink House continues to shine as a place of comfort, connection, and hope for all those impacted by breast cancer. The momentum behind Carolina Breast Friends is rising as it expands its culturally responsive programs and extends support beyond the walls of the Pink House by creating new pathways to healing, belonging, and empowerment through community.
One of the areas of growth we are especially proud of is the expansion of the La Casa Rosada program. We recognize the importance of meeting individuals where they are, both culturally and linguistically. Over the coming months, we will continue to increase our Spanish-language programming and resources, ensuring that members of our Hispanic and Latina breast cancer community have access to support, education, and connection in their preferred language. This investment reflects our commitment to making our services more inclusive and accessible to all.
We are also excited to host our upcoming EmpowHER Day Retreats, thoughtfully designed to provide focused support and meaningful connection for specific populations within our breast cancer community. These retreats will create dedicated spaces for young survivors, those navigating metastatic breast cancer, and members of our co-survivor community. Through education, wellness experiences, peer support, and opportunities for restoration, these retreats reflect our belief that every individual’s journey is unique and deserves personalized care and attention.
In the coming days, our Board of Directors will gather for our Midyear Board Retreat to strategically explore Carolina Breast Friends' future growth. Together, we will examine opportunities to expand our mission, strengthen our vision, and increase our impact throughout the communities we serve. The passion and expertise of our board members continue to guide our organization toward a future where even more individuals affected by breast cancer can access the support they need.
Fundraising remains vital to making this work possible, and we are thrilled to share that preparations for our signature event, Roaring in Pink, are off to an incredible start. Sponsorship commitments and table sales have already generated tremendous enthusiasm for this year’s celebration, which will take place on Friday, October 9, at Carmel Country Club. This year’s theme, “A Night with a Thousand Lights,” promises to be an inspiring evening as we share powerful stories, enjoy the Survivor runway show curated by international designer Luis Machicao, generously give to support our breast cancer community, and raise our glasses in celebration of hope and community.
Funds raised through Roaring in Pink directly support the free programs and services offered through Carolina Breast Friends, from support groups and educational programming to wellness services, navigation assistance, specialized retreats, and resources tailored to the diverse needs of those impacted by breast cancer. Every sponsorship, ticket purchase, and donation helps ensure that these life-changing services remain available at no cost to those who need them most. For additional details, click here.
Finally, we are excited to move closer to the rollout of our Mobile Unit, an initiative sponsored by B&C that will extend Carolina Breast Friends' reach beyond the greater Charlotte area. This innovative resource will enable us to deliver essential support services directly to underserved communities, eliminating barriers and ensuring more individuals have access to compassionate care, education, and resources. We believe that geography should never determine access to support, and this Mobile Unit represents an important step toward expanding our impact across the region.
As we reflect on all that lies ahead, we are deeply grateful for the survivors, thrivers, co-survivors, volunteers, donors, healthcare partners, and advocates who make this work possible. Your belief in our mission enables Carolina Breast Friends to continue evolving, expanding, and responding to our community's needs with compassion and purpose.
Thank you for walking alongside us. Together, we are creating a future where every person impacted by breast cancer is met with understanding, encouragement, and hope.
With gratitude,
Lisa Dale Levinson
Executive Director, Carolina Breast Friends
