Mission Moment | Resilient Hearts Day

“This was a wonderful day with so much valuable information and new friendships made.”

Participants in Resilient Hearts Day: A Transformative HeartMath Workshop for Survivors, Thrivers, and Co-Survivors, in July 2024

Our recent day-long workshop, Resilient Hearts Day: A Transformative HeartMath Workshop for Survivors, Thrivers, and Co-Survivors brought together a vibrant group of people committed to enhancing their health and resilience to navigate breast cancer—either for themselves or to better support a loved one.

The idea for the workshop was inspired at our EmpowHER Day Retreat in May for young Survivors and Thrivers (see story). During the retreat, many of the participants expressed a desire to teach loved ones (aka Co-Survivors) how to manage their own energy in healthy ways.

According to Ashly Dollar, CBF’s Director of Programs & Volunteers, “We learned that even when Survivors are coping OK on their journey, the stress and anxiety of those around them can inadvertently cause additional stress for the Survivor. In response, we created this wholistic event to both support our Survivors & Thrivers and also to equip their support systems with positive coping tools.”

With the help of instructor Lori Ives-Godwin, participants delved into HeartMath techniques, learning how to harness the power of heart-brain communication to manage stress, improve emotional stability, and enhance overall health.

Everyone agreed that the workshop gave them productive ways to manage stress and improve their well-being, especially related to navigating the challenges of cancer recovery and of caregiving.

One participant, Rhonda, remarked, “We came away with so many great tools to apply to everyday life. It was an awesome workshop!”

Janet, a fellow participant, agreed, saying. “This was a wonderful day with so much valuable information and new friendships made.”

We are thrilled with the success of Resilient Hearts Day! Stay tuned for upcoming events and workshops that will further support the journey toward better health and emotional well-being.
