April's Mission Moment is by Amanadalis, in her own words.

As I navigated through the whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties that came with my breast cancer diagnosis, Carolina Breast Friends (CBF) became a beacon of light in my journey. My introduction to CBF came through the compassionate guidance of Vicki and Lisa, the nurse navigators at Novant Health, who recognized the importance of connecting me with a supportive community.

Originally hailing from Long Island, New York, I embarked on a new chapter of my life in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I immersed myself in my role as the Director of Premium Suites and Catering. With a decade of experience in the hospitality and event management industry, I've always thrived in creating memorable experiences for others. My world also revolves around my beloved fur baby, Roger, with whom I cherish outdoor adventures amidst nature's embrace.

My breast cancer journey began unexpectedly, as I discovered a lump in my left breast during a routine shower. Initially dismissing it as trivial, the persistent growth of the lump prompted me to seek medical advice. After a mammogram and subsequent diagnosis, I faced a whirlwind of emotions, from denial to fear. Despite my initial resistance to chemotherapy, I embarked on the treatment journey with courage and determination.

CBF became my sanctuary, offering a haven of comfort, empowerment, and understanding amidst the chaos of my diagnosis. Attending sessions, meeting fellow Survivors & Thrivers, and connecting with a CBF Mentor, I found solace in the shared experiences of courageous women who understood the intricacies of the journey I was undertaking.

Through CBF, I found a safe space where I could openly discuss my fears and uncertainties without judgment. The warmth and camaraderie of the CBF community provided me with the strength to face each day with resilience and optimism. They not only supported me through the physical challenges of treatment but also empowered me to reclaim my identity beyond the confines of cancer.

CBF's unwavering support has been a lifeline throughout my journey, reminding me that I am not alone in this battle. Their knowledge, compassion, and willingness to share their own stories have been invaluable in navigating the complexities of cancer treatment and survivorship. As I continue to embrace each moment with courage and grace, I am grateful for the empowering embrace of Carolina Breast Friends and the bonds forged with fellow warriors along the way.
