Lighting the Way Forward
A Message from Lisa Dale Levinson, Executive Director of Carolina Breast Friends
There are seasons when you can feel an organization growing; not just in size, but in purpose, reach, and possibility. This is one of those seasons for Carolina Breast Friends, and we are grateful.
As I look ahead, I keep coming back to the same thought: every step forward begins with a Survivor or Thriver who needs us. That is what drives our work.
The B&C Pink Boutique Mobile Unit is days away from completion and will soon allow us to bring important resources directly into the community. For someone who may not be able to make the trip to The Pink House, that access can make all the difference. We can’t wait to share the big reveal with you and our Greater Charlotte community.
We are also beginning our expansion into the Lake Norman community. We will introduce services in phases over the coming months as we listen, build trusted relationships, and thoughtfully develop programming that reflects the needs of Survivors and Thrivers in that area.
One of the initiatives closest to our hearts is Healing in Motion, launching in October in memory of Ana Emmett. Ana was a Survivor we had the privilege of serving at The Pink House and a physical therapy professional with a vision to provide PT services for breast cancer patients after treatment. Sadly, Anna passed before she could see that vision become a reality.
Because of designated funding in her memory, we now have the honor of carrying that vision forward. Healing in Motion will help Survivors and Thrivers regain strength, confidence, mobility, and a sense of progress in their recovery. It is a beautiful example of how one person’s hope can continue to impact others.
This season also brings two very special celebrations: our Pink Boots Ball, a magical night created exclusively for Survivors and Thrivers, and our signature fundraising event, Roaring in Pink: A Night of a Thousand Lights. The theme feels especially meaningful this year. Each person in our community is one light. One story. One act of generosity. One hand reaching out to someone who needs support. Individually, each light matters. Together, those lights become something extraordinary.
As Carolina Breast Friends grows, so does the need for continued investment in this mission. Every program we expand, every Survivor and Thriver we reach, and every barrier we remove is made possible because someone chooses to give.
