Announcing Healing in Motion

Some of the most meaningful programs are born from a person's passion to make a difference. Today, we are incredibly honored to bring one of those visions to life. Carolina Breast Friends is proud to announce the launch of Healing in Motion, a NEW specialized physical therapy program created in loving memory of Ana Emmet.

Ana was a physical therapist whose own experience with breast cancer inspired a deep commitment to helping others navigate the physical challenges that can remain long after surgery and treatment. Ana understood firsthand that recovery is about more than completing treatment. It's about regaining movement, rebuilding strength, finding comfort in your body, and returning to the activities that bring you joy.
Although Ana passed away before she could bring this vision to life, her passion, compassion, and desire to serve the breast cancer community live on through Healing in Motion. Thanks to a generous memorial gift made in Ana's honor, and through our new partnership with Congruency Therapy and Wellness, we are turning her vision into meaningful care for Survivors and Thrivers in our community.
What Is Healing in Motion?
This specialized physical therapy program is designed for breast cancer Survivors and Thrivers experiencing lingering physical effects from surgery, radiation, reconstruction, or other breast cancer treatments.
Through individualized care, participants may receive:
Hands on myofascial release and manual therapy
Support for scar tissue tightness and restrictions
Improved shoulder and upper body mobility
Relief from lingering tension and discomfort
Personalized movement and therapeutic exercises
Education and techniques to continue improving movement and comfort beyond the program
And thanks to the generosity behind this memorial gift, these services are provided free of charge to approved participants.
Applications Are Now Open
We are officially accepting applications for our initial Healing in Motion program. Our inaugural group will welcome five Survivors and Thrivers, with each participant eligible to receive up to six specialized physical therapy visits at Congruency Therapy and Wellness's Charlotte location, based on individual clinical need.
Five participants will be selected for this first round. As participants complete the program, we look forward to welcoming additional groups and continuing to expand Ana's legacy of care.
