The Big Wigs of 2024 ready to raise funds and awareness for Carolina Breast Friends.

In the streets of Charlotte this month, twelve remarkable individuals are turning heads, not just with their striking pink wigs, but with their unwavering dedication to a cause close to their hearts. Meet the Big Wigs of the Wiggin Out for Carolina Breast Friends campaign, a diverse group of passionate souls committed to raising funds and awareness for Carolina Breast Friends, aka The Pink House.

The Big Wigs of 2024:

Carolina Breast Friends (CBF) eases the journey for anyone navigating the challenging terrain of breast cancer. With its mission to embrace the breast cancer community in a positive environment, CBF provides invaluable resources, education, fellowship, and mentoring at every stage of the breast cancer journey. And this year’s group of Big Wigs is on its own mission to support the work we do!

Throughout the month of May, the Big Wigs are donning their pink wigs and spreading joy, compassion, and awareness wherever they go. Among them are business owners, retired executives, and international influencers. Some of them have lost loved ones to breast cancer, and many have close family or friends who are facing the illness. One thing that unites them is the time and energy they are putting into making a difference--each committing to raising at least $7500 that will go directly to the programs & services CBF provides.

"They all have such busy lives. When you think about all the time they’re putting into the Wiggin Out campaign in the midst of their daily lives, it really makes you stop and appreciate what they are doing for our mission and the people we serve," says CBF’s Director of Development, Michelle Weber.

Big Wig Daniel Barnhardt, Sr. Lead Project Manager at Wells Fargo, reflects on the impact of their efforts, saying, "Wearing the wig has opened so many opportunities to meet great people and learn about their personal journeys with breast cancer. And sharing the work of Carolina Breast Friends is such an honor."

Another thing that sets this group apart is the presence of three extraordinary individuals who are, themselves, living with breast cancer: Maria Ramirez, Dawn West, and Ellen Kobus. Their vibrant spirit and commitment to the cause serve as a testament to resilience.

Says Big Wig Ellen, “Chances are, you or someone you know has been touched by this disease [as I was]. Carolina Breast Friends provides care for all who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. To show how much I believe in this good work and to keep it on your mind, too, I’ll be wearing this crazy pink wig all over town all month!”

So hats off (and wigs on) to the 12 Big Wigs of this year’s Wiggin Out for Carolina Breast Friends campaign! Together, these twelve individuals are a force for good, united in their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

But their work isn’t over yet. As they continue "wiggin’ out" through the end of May, these Big Wigs are on a mission to help OUR mission. We invite you to thank them by visiting their fundraising pages and helping them reach their goals!

In their collective efforts lies the promise of a brighter, healthier future for all those in the greater Charlotte area who are touched by breast cancer.

UPDATE! This year's Big Wigs broke through our $145K goal and set a new record by raising more than $180,000! All of these funds will go directly to our programs and services!

Special thanks to Hydration Station Foundation for sponsoring our 2024 Wiggin Out for Carolina Breast Friends campaign! Their collaboration has helped make this effort a success.
