"I am encouraged by how CBF goes above and beyond for Survivors to help make this journey as easy as possible. Being at all the different events, classes, and support groups, in the company of other Survivors that can relate, is very beneficial."
Rhonda is a three-time, 18-year breast cancer Survivor/Thriver. She was initially diagnosed in 2004, and then in 2010 when she underwent a single mastectomy. In 2020 Rhonda was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She began treatment in August of 2020 and her CT scans as of January of 2021 (and every three months since then) have shown no signs of metastatic disease.
"I experienced severe depression and anxiety as well as lost my will to live during every diagnosis, but with intense therapy I was able to overcome," Rhonda says. "I chose to fight and LIVE and desire to help and encourage other women on this journey."
After more than 35 years with a corporate career, Rhonda recently resigned in order to care for herself better physically and mentally. In October, she reached out to CBF to find out how she could get more involved as a participant in our programs, and in search of volunteer opportunities where she could give back in a meaningful and fulfilling way.
Rhonda has become a consistent presence at The Pink House, and we are fortunate to see her each week taking on different tasks in the house. She has become our resident organizational queen -- getting our basement and several storage closets in order. In addition, she works to keep our Comfort Bags supplied and Inspiration Jars stocked.
"I enjoy the volunteer opportunities as a chance to give back," she says.
