The use of dietary supplements, which includes vitamines, minerals, herbs and other natural medicines, is increasing in the United States and is especially popular among patients with cancer. It is estimated that more than 50% of Americans use vitamin supplements on a regular basis. Safety is a primary concern when using these products. Indiscriminate use of dietary supplements can sometimes interfere with your cancer treatment. Please join our guest speaker, Kim DeRhodes BS, RPh, an Integrative Medicine Pharmacist at Novant Health, as she guides us through the use of these dietary supplements and recommends specific ones that may help certain conditions.
Kim DeRhodes, BS, RPh is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where she received her BS degree in Pharmacy. She has over 35 years of experience and is currently employed by Novant Health Integrative Medicine. She frequently gives lectures on integrative and natural medicine and has taught classes at Queens University, UNCC, and Carolinas College of Healthcare Sciences. She is a contributor to Dr Andrew Weil's latest book, Mind Over Meds. She sees patients by appointment for medication therapy management and to counsel them on the proper use of vitamins, herbs and other natural medicines. We are extremely pleased to have her as our guest speaker for this virtual session.
