Session Description: Please join us as we welcome Cindy Mattone with Dignitana who will answer your questions about the DigniCap.
The DigniCap Scalp Cooling System is a proven approach to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy that has been used successfully by thousands of patients worldwide. Cleared by the FDA since 2015, it has been clinically proven to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy in patients with solid tumors, such as breast cancer. Reducing hair loss improves both well-being and quality of life for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy.
The way the DigniCap works is by cooling the scalp. It consists of a snug-fitting cooling cap that is connected to a cooling unit. The cap is worn during the chemotherapy infusion and for a period after. The reduction in scalp temperature caused by the cap results in a decreased blood flow to the scalp area so that less chemotherapy reaches the hair follicles. Therefore, hair cells are not exposed to the full dose of chemotherapy and may be able to survive the chemotherapy treatment. As a result, the hair is less likely to fall out.
Please be sure to review the DigniCap website so that you can have your questions ready for our speaker, Cindy Mattone! www.dignicap.com
We are also very pleased to have Christine Buchanan RN, OCN with us for this session. Christine is an RN who is oncology certified and works directly with the patients who are enrolled in the DigniCap program at Oncology Specialists of Charlotte. She can share real stories of women and men in Charlotte who have benefitted from the use of this cooling system.
