Session Description: When a patient is diagnosed with breast cancer and/or has a history of breast in the family, genetic testing is often ordered. Stephanie Nix is a certified genetic counselor at Atrium with years of experience. Hope you can join us because she promises to bring a very interactive virtual session to the Pink House Survivors! Stephanie Nix is a genetic counselor specializing in cancer care at the Levine Cancer Institute at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. Stephanie graduated from Wofford College with a bachelor's degree in biology in 2000 and got her master's degree in Genetic Counseling at the University of South Carolina in 2002. She has worked at Atrium Health for over 19 years. One of the things Stephanie loves most about genetic counseling is having the opportunity to make genetic concepts understandable and meaningful for all people. In her position at the Levine Cancer Institute, Stephanie evaluates personal and family histories of cancer and discusses options for genetic testing for hereditary cancer conditions.
