Learn more about breast reconstruction options that may restore sensation (feeling) to the breast after a mastectomy, by reconnecting the nerves that are cut during surgery. Resensation is a breakthrough surgical technique that can be performed during a free flap (autologous) breast reconstruction, which can be either immediate or delayed. The Resensation technique is not possible for women who have implant surgery, unless it is being done as part of a secondary procedure to replace implants with the body's own natural tissue. With Resensation, it is possible that the reconstructed breast may not permanently be numb.
Dr. Snehankita Kulkarni, a plastic surgeon from CMC Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, will be our speaker, along with Cheryl White with Axogen, Inc. They will describe the procedure and answer any questions that you might have.
Light refreshments will be served.
