Special Event Description:

 A reading of Tatas Tales/Los Cuentos de las Tatas, a new play based on the writings, drawings, talk, ideas and community of Charlotte and Concord area breast cancer survivors. Hear the developing script read by actors, and share your ideas in response. Breast cancer touches every life in some way. All are welcome. 

Background: Tatas Tales/Los Cuentos de las Tatas, is a play that evolved from informal poetry, transformative writing, and theatre workshops with a diverse cross section of breast cancer survivors led by Irania Macias Reymann since 2019. While this project initially responded to a gap in providing bilingual educational and artistic services to Latinas with breast cancer in Mecklenburg County, it grew to include breast cancer survivors from all walks of life, writing and connecting all across the Charlotte-metro area and surrounding counties in clinical and non- profit support-group settings. Playwrights Irania Macias Reymann (Certified Applied Poetry Therapy Facilitator) and Beth Murray (UNC Charlotte Department of Theatre) synthesized and distilled the creative works into a play.  

NOTE: This session will be delivered in person at The Pink House, Masks are Required. Parking is available behind The Pink House.
